Introductory Teacher Training Program
in the Lineage of Sri BKS Iyengar

Program Description and Information

We are in the process of finishing the three year Iyengar yoga teacher training this year of 2019. And I will not begin a new teachertraining before 2020.

I will only accept those who have been practicing with me at least continuely for minimum of six months, before you can apply for the teacher training program starting 2020/2021.

I will though start a ONE YEAR course in 2020 for those interested.

I do not have a "small" teacher training program as many other. It will be a three year study program, and during those years you will be thorougly introduced to the methodes of Iyengar yoga, philosophy, anatomy and the skills and art of teaching students of yoga.

One Year course & and the following  Two Year Introductory Teacher Training Program in the Lineage of BKS Iyengar

All material is in english.
Yogānuśāsanam refers to the reverential practice of yoga as a sacred art - the art of integrating body, mind, and breath and uniting the individual soul with the universal spirit.
This teacher training program is an opportunity for dedicated students  to deepen their practice, to establish themselves on the noble path of teaching. The program will provide a comprehensive foundation for students who wish to prepare for the Introductory assessment in the Iyengar system.

You will be personally menthored by Mette Orum and meet with your fellow Teacher training students at Copenhagenyoga studio. Summers is off.

You will also be offered a homework course over the Patanjali yoga philosophy relevant for the one Year course and Introductory Level I &II assessment, as well as the readings of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. These will be part of our program and are mandatory for all Teacher Training students.  Students will also be responsible for homework assignments and projects to be completed at home. These will include on-going study, practice, and written assignments.

Once the program begins, students will be expected to (a) take weekly classes at Copenhagenyoga; (b) maintain a daily home practice of asana and pranayama; and (c) attend all Teacher Training program classes- for those attending teacher training, not those taking the One Year Course.

Program Requirements

1.You must have a clear commitment to the Iyengar method.
2.You must have two years of study in the Iyengar method and have been taking a weekly class with an Iyengar teacher these two years (exceptions to the weekly class requirement will be made for those who don’t have regular access to an Iyengar teacher).

In addition to these two key requirements, we recommend that you have a daily practice that includes inversions (sirsasana, sarvangasana, halasana, setu bandha sarvangasana). We also recommend that you study and learn the complete names of all basic poses in both Sanskrit and English.

While you are in the Teacher Training Program and for this year preceding it, you are strongly encouraged to immerse yourself in the Iyengar method and to study only with Iyengar teachers (exceptions include meditation retreats and anatomy classes).

We recommend that you buy and study these following references:

  1. Yoga in Action:  Preliminary Course, by Geeta Iyengar
  2. Light on Yoga, by BKS Iyengar
  3. Yoga:  A Gem for Women, by Geeta Iyengar
  4. Light on the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali, by BKS Iyengar
  5. Hatha Yoga Pradipika, by Swami Svatmarama

All four may be purchased from the IYNAUS store at http://iynaus.org/store

The goals of this Teacher Training Program are to give you a thorough immersion in the Iyengar method through an in depth study of the required knowledge and foundational poses of the Introductory syllabi and to develop and refine your teaching skills. However, please note that completion of this Teacher Training Program is only the first step in preparation for certification in Iyengar system: students will together with Mette Oerum-Nielsen, apprentice for at least one year following completion of teacher training before applying for assessment.

Yoga in the City Retreat- tid til fordybelsen

København er dejlig. Så hvorfor forlade den ? Som årene er gået mærker jeg - i mig selv - en større længsel efter fordybelsen i yogaens, meditationen og bønnens stærke kraft.
